Hieronymus Fabricius ab Aquapendente
1533–1619
Plates
- Tab. XIV: Perfectly described, completely misread (1603)
Fabricius draws the little doors in the veins and gets their purpose backwards.
What they got wrong
- Valves slow the outward flow The valves of the veins act as brakes on blood flowing outwards from the liver, so it does not pool in the hands and feet.
